Want to hide your files and folders ? But don't want use software's which cost you? .Then your at the wright place . In this tutorial i will teach you How to Lock Folders without any Software . There are many ways to do it but best way is by using a CMD shell.

How to Lock Folders without any Software :-

1. First download the lock.txt from Here

2. To get the password Click Here

3. Now copy the code (lock.txt) in a note pad  and replace the " your password 
   here" with your  password you want to lock the folder 

4. Save the above file as BATCH file (something .bat). Choose any file name but
    make sure  that it ends  with .bat

5. Now double click the the BATCH  file . It will create a new folder called  
   ‘Locker’Now put all the   files and folder you want to lock with in the locker 
    folder

6. Now once again double click the the Batch file . It will ask weather to lock 
   the folder Type yes (y)  and click enter

 

7. Now the folder locker will disappear and will be locked .To unlock it double click
    the batch file we created it will  ask  you for the password enter the password witch
    we created in  third step

Ok by this method we locked the folder successfully .but any won who knows a bit of 
 computing . can read the batch file using a note pad .So to make it safer  and give a 
  professional touch follow the steps given below 

Giving a Professional Touch :-

1. To do it first download the batch to exe  file converter from Here

2. Now open the batch to exe  file converter and select the batch file
we created (Fourth step) . Now save  the file as something .exe .We
can also password protect the exe file so that no one can  open it

3. That's it we have created our own folder lock program  without using any software

How to hide texts in Notepad?

Have you ever tried to Hide text in a regular windows Notepad....!Yes, there is a possibility to hide some text in a Regular Notepad, but it seems to be working on only few versions on windows, probably on Windows XP SP2.

To hide text in a notepad, all what you need to do is, just open up a command prompt and type the command as given below,......

C:\>notepad secret.txt:hidden.txt

Then it will opens up a new Notepad file, and prompts whether to create a notepad file with the name secret, go ahead and click on 'yes'., then the title of the notepad file will changes and you may see the changes in the titlebar of the Notepad. Now type what ever you want there, according to your wish and go ahead and click on the X on the right exterme end on the Notepad window ( Close ), then it prompts whether to save the file or not, click on 'Yes'. Then Just type the "DIR" command to view whether the file has been created, it must be there and now go to the location where you saved the file and try to open it up, it will open but it will not display any text in it, instead, it will display a blank Notepad File....! :->

Inorder to view this Hidden text in this Notepad File, just again go to the same command prompt and then type the same command what you have typed to create the file, as below....

C:\>notepad secret.txt:hidden.txt

Now you will view the text what you typed there....!, also if you go ahead and check with the file size, it always seems to be 0KB, sometimes 1KB, and it will not cross these two filesizes, but you can type the contents upto MBs and so on...!Any way, if someone came to know about this, they can easily open this file by using this simple command.

Dont worry Here is another way to hide the text in the same Notepad application, but it would differ a bit from the previous one, and here in this method you will give a password to open up this file.

In order to perform this Hack, just open up a new command prompt and type the command as given below,....

C:\>echo This is a secret File.....! >textfile.txt:pa$$wd

C:\>

Seems to be a simple echo command, is it so?But it will make these text hidden.

once you have entered the command, just type the "DIR" Command to check whether the file has been created, it will be there. and here it will create a new Notepad file with the name "textfile". and now try to open the file in a normal way, it will open but will be blank file and nothing will be displayed there, inorder to view the text what you typed there, you need to enter another command as below

C:\>more 

Once after typing this command , it will display the text what you typed over there, like below.....!

This is a secret File ....!

and the exact output would be like this,.........

C:\>echo This is a secret File .....! >textfile.txt:pa$$rd

C:\>more 

This is a secret File .....!

Inorder to hide your own text, use the same syntax,

C:\> echo Text >Name.txt:password

where,echo - CommandText - Text you want to HideName - Filename

password - password

and to open up the file and view the hidden text, the syntax would be,..

C:\> more < Name:password

where,more - CommandName - Filename

password - password

The first method is not password protected, but the last one is password protected.Try it yourself and hide the text like this. :)

How I Recovered data from my Corrupt USB Flash Drive

TestDisk is a free open source software which helps recovering data from a corrupt usb flash drive. Recently my flash drive got corrupted, and was asking to be formatted under windows once plugged in. I tried opening the pen drive under several operating systems including windows xp, vista, windows 7, fedora, ubuntu etc. But in most of them, “Insert a Disk into drive x”  and “Drive is not formatted” error was popping up.

As the data in my removable drive was not that critical, I started experimenting with different free data recovery softwares. Out of them,TestDisk, turned out to be the best in recovering my lost FAT32 partition.

TestDisk Features

• Fix partition table and recover lost/deleted partition
• Rebuild/Recover FAT32 boot sector
• Fix FAT Tables
• Rebuild/Recover NTFS boot sector
• Undelete files from fat, ntfs and ext2 filesystem
• Copy files from deleted partitions

How to Recover Files using TestDisk

Common symptoms or errors seen when a drive gets corrupted is, Windows Explorer shows primary partition as raw or unformatted and Windows prompts this error message.
“The drive is not formatted, do you want to format it now?”
To recover a partition or repair a file system, you must run TestDisk with full administrator privileges. In Windows Vista, right click Testdisk.exe and select “run as administrator” option.

To recover partition from a media image or repair a filesystem image, run

• testdisk image.dd to create a raw disk image
• testdisk image.E01 to recover files from an Encase EWF image
• testdisk 'image.*' if the Encase image is split into several files.

If the partition was reformatted into other file system use these steps given below.

• run TestDisk,
• select the hard disk and the partition type
• choose Advanced
• select the partition
• choose Type,
• enter the value corresponding to the previous filesystem
• choose Boot
• choose RebuildBS
• List
• If you can see your files, choose Write and confirm
• In Analyse, choose to rewrite the partition with the correct partition type.

Tips To Make Your Yahoo! Messenger Hack Proof

Avoid P2P file Sharing Through Yahoo! Messenger :-

Be it known or unknown, prefer not to receive any file from your friend unless you know what he is sharing and why. Avoid downloading .exe or .zip files from them as they are more likely to attack your computer or install trozans without you being aware of it. Never trust a stranger when he asks you to click on any site you haven't heard of.

Avoid Clicking on Spammy Links :-

If you were chatting with someone else and suddenly a PM box flashes on the screen with a lucrative offer/interesting site which has a spammy look, don't click on it. These websites have a lot of spyware who get silently installed if you go and surf them. Never download a toolbar unless its as authenticated as Yahoo!'s or Google's.

Use Ignore Option Effectively :-

Yahoo! has an ignore option that lets you ban a person or mark as spam so that he can't disturb you once again. Use that option effective. Go to Yahoo! Messenger main box -> Preferences -> Ignore List. If you want to avoid talking to strangers (which I always recommend)i.e. wanna talk to your buddies only, Check Ignore anyone.. option. That helps you be safe and block on the unwanted and potential hackers from reaching you. See the screen-shot below.

 Use other Chat Clients :-

Yahoo! Messenger has too many loopholes. It doesn't have a strong security to block contents either. So, if you want to get rid of spams and porn contents all under one go, then you should go for some popular and secure Yahoo! chat clients like Yazak. You can also go for Yah-Elite and Yam They may not have the same sophisticated GUI or entertainment features but they will increase the security of the chat sessions by many folds.

Here is a link that can help you with some more chat clients. I don't recommend any except these.

Always Use Newer Versions of Yahoo! Messenger :-

Remember, the more you stay with the older versions and feel lazy to get upgraded, the more you are helping the hackers. Yahoo! or any software, brings out these updates not only to extend features but also due to security reasons. A newer version of Yahoo! messenger 9 is hardly bootable by DoS attack whereas Yahoo! Messenger 7 can be booted out or hacked by a script kiddie.

Don't download Yahoo! Plug-ins from Unauthorized Source :-

Do not ever download a plug-in of Yahoo! messenger from any other site however lucrative it be. Plug-ins like these exploit the vulnerability once installed and send your account details to a third party revealing and cracking down your id. So, better be safe than sorry. No?

Use Proxy if you have a Better Firewall :-

Yahoo! also gives you option to change your proxy. Go to Preferences and hunt down Proxy servers. You will see that you can set your own proxy server so that Yahoo! gets redirected through yours giving you a better chance to protect yourself and secure by your network. But if only you have that faith on your network security. You can change it by going to Yahoo! Messenger main box -> Preferences -> Connection.

Use Word Filter :-

You can also use your word Filter in Yahoo! messenger. It just discards all the obscene or threatening words by intelligent filtering system if you choose Strong option. But be aware, there may be some times when your own friend can get banned while cursing your jokingly. Word filter is another good option to be within your network and not let some specifically targeted spammers to arrive. It increases security too. You can change it by going to Yahoo! Messenger main box -> Preferences -> Chat.

Be sure to Delete Your Profile after Chatting from a Public computer :-

Most of the users don't know about it. Whenever you sign in to Yahoo! messenger, Yahoo! makes a profile of yours in the directory Yahoo! -> Messenger -> Profiles by the name of your Yahoo! id. There is an option by default at Yahoo! messenger that messages will be saved as long as you are signed in to your account for that session. A good hacker can have access to that file and decrypt it to learn your privateconversations.

What you must do if you are sharing a public computer to chat from is to change it by going to Yahoo! Messenger main box -> Preferences -> Archive. Change it to No, do not save any of my messages and you are done. Oh don't forget to delete your profile from Profiles inside Yahoo! folder after you sign out.

Apply Your Common sense and Use a good Antivirus and anti Spyware software:-

Applying your common sense is the least you can do to prevent your account from being hacked. A good anti-virus and anti-spyware always warns you about dangers that you may have overlooked. So its better to have them as well. If you implement the above 9 tips, you won't need to worry much I gues until you personally hand over your information to the person willing to crack your computer down.
