AuditionBooth.com to connect aspiring entertainers with show business top men

Former "American Idol" judge Paula Abdul's days of discovering fresh new talent aren't over. The singer-dancer has just launched AuditionBooth.com, a new casting website for aspiring entertainers.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, AuditionBooth - which 48-year-old Abdul co-founded - hopes to connect those with dreams of being in show business with casting directors, producers, and managers of TV shows, reality series, Web videos, and ad campaigns.

Talent can use AuditionBooth to record and upload their audition videos, while casting decision-makers can search and screen submissions, and visitors can comment on and "Like" videos.

"I've spent so much time throughout my career nurturing great talent, some of whom have realized their dreams and some of whom haven't been as lucky," says Abdul, who gives advice and inspiration in the Paula's Blog section of the site. "The fact is, though, that in some cases the only difference has been opportunity. That is what AuditionBooth is about - the opportunity."

Simon Cowell would surely agree.

Kardashians Kredit Kad

Kardashians Credit CardThe Kardashian sisters are releasing their own credit card. The three siblings, Kim, Khloe and Kourtney, have teamed up with Mobile Resource Card to bring out a pre-paid card emblazoned with their faces.

The card comes out on November 10 and Khloe admits she is very excited about the venture.

The 26-year-old star wrote on her blog: “Never thought I'd have my own face on a debit card, but I think it's pretty amazing we're going to be in so many people's wallets!”

The Mastercard also comes with a free Mobile Money account – which means card holders can transfer money between their accounts using their cell phone.

Kim, 30, wrote on her blog: “To me, the coolest thing about this pre-paid card is that when you get the card you also get a Mobile Money account for free and you can transfer your money between your accounts when you need it, using your phone. It's like having an ATM in your phone, LOL. No one likes going to banks and ATMs and we're constantly on our phones, so why not make it easy to manage your money from your mobile!? (sic)”

The celebrity sisters will launch the card on November 9 with a party at New York nightclub Pacha.

Jennifer Aniston topless in Wanderlust

Jennifer Aniston topless in WanderlustJennifer Aniston, the former Friends actress, is to take on her most risqué role, appearing topless at the age of 41. She is to star in the film “Wanderlust” which calls for her to strip off for the first time in her acting career.

Her character also indulges in threesome with two other women, sleeps around with numerous men and takes drugs.

Reports in Hollywood said Aniston has agreed to play the part of a “free loving” married woman who ends up living in a hippie community.

The role will be a major departure for the actress who has appeared in a series of romantic comedies since making her name as Rachel in Friends.
According to reports in Hollywood, Aniston is looking to the Judd Apatow-directed film to boost her flagging career.

The prospect of Aniston appearing topless will generate huge publicity for the film and the actress.

Judge Ellen DeGeneres is out of American Idol show

"American Idol" appears on course for a wholesale make-over after the abrupt departure of Ellen DeGeneres left the aging singing contest with two holes to fill as it seeks to retain its crown as the most-watched show on U.S. television.

DeGeneres quit on Thursday after just a year of her five-year contract on the TV show, following the exit in May of abrasive British judge Simon Cowell to run his own show.

With no replacements announced, Fox executives meet TV journalists on Monday after a week of fevered rumors, and some denials, that singers Jessica Simpson, Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Lopez, Chris Isaak and Steven Tyler may be among the contenders for the job of new "American Idol" judge.

Reports that Briton Nigel Lythgoe, one of the original executive producers, is returning, have sparked talk of a "nuclear option" for the show's 10th season, starting in January 2011.

That could entail throwing out remaining judges Randy Jackson and pop songwriter Kara DioGuardi, as well as major changes to the format, TV watchers say.

"I thought (with Simon's exit) that 'Idol' was in a unique position to really make some dramatic fixes to the show, and it looks now that maybe that's what they are going to do," said Brian Mansfield, who runs USA Today's Idol Chatter blog.

Fox has declined to confirm or deny any of the reports. "There has been a lot of speculation and we are not commenting on anything," a network spokesperson said.

Fox presents it 2010-11 new season line-up to TV critics on Monday but the network has until September to put a new panel in place in time for filmed auditions for next year's show.

IDOLS LOSING THEIR SHINE

After four years of declining audiences, lukewarm record sales for the 2010 "American Idol" Lee DeWyze, and a two-week cut in the Top 10 "Idols" summer tour, the money-spinning jewel in Fox's crown could use some polishing, TV watchers say.

"Idol" producers 19 Entertainment and FremantleMedia have also taken note. They have already said that the minimum age for contestants will be lowered to 15, in what was seen as a bid to find the next Justin Bieber, who signed his first record contract at the age of 14.

Results shows next year will be cut in half to 30 minutes, and contestants can audition over MySpace.

Fans on the official AmericanIdol.com website were given an unprecedented and detailed questionnaire in May, asking for feedback on their favorite judges, guest judges, weekly musical themes, and whether they would like more informal moments with the contestants backstage.

"You can bet the producers are poring over that," said Todd Gold, managing editor of Fancast.com.

Gold said edgier contestants rather than the family-friendly singers seen in past seasons could give the contest a lift.

"This is a time in TV when playing it safe doesn't seem like it will work. The producers understand that," he said.

Lurking in the background is Cowell's own talent show "The X-Factor" due in the fall of 2011, also on Fox. The British version of the show has a more cut-throat format and Cowell is also out recruiting for judges.

"'X-Factor' is going to get all sorts of attention and so making really wholesale changes to 'Idol' is one way that you can pre-empt the buzz that 'X Factor' is going to get," said Mansfield.

As for the newcomers to the "Idol" panel, Mansfield noted the surprise factor surrounding the appointment of DioGuardi in 2008 and the hiring, and sudden exit, of DeGeneres.

Andrew Garfield named as the new Spider-Man

After a six-month wait, Sony/Columbia Pictures has named British actor Andrew Garfield as the new Spider-Man in the reboot of Marvel's superhero franchise.

The role of Peter Parker has been up for grabs since January after director Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire bowed out of the fourth instalment.

New director Marc Webb, who made (500) Days of Summer commented in a press release: "Though his name may be new to many, those who know this young actor's work understand his extraordinary talents. He has a rare combination of intelligence, wit, and humanity."

Garfield's films include such notable work as Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, the UK's gritty Red Riding Trilogy series, Spike Jonze short film I'm Here, and Robert Redford's Lion for Lambs with Meryl Streep and Tom Cruise. He has also won awards for the British stage.

Perhaps his highest profile project will be David Fincher's The Social Network, playing Facebook's co-founder, due in November. Also, Garfield has a lead in the upcoming Never Let Me Go with Carey Mulligan and Keira Knightley.

The 26-year-old American-born and British-raised actor beat out a comprehensive list of candidates for the hotly-contested role, including Aaron Johnson (Kick-Ass), Anton Yelchin (Star Trek, Terminator Salvation), Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson), and Josh Hutcherson (Cirque du Freak).

Producer Laura Ziskin said, "Andrew had the right mix of humor, youth, and pathos, along with an underlying sense of strength and power necessary to bring Peter Parker and Spider-Man to life on screen."

The story of the next Spider-Man is a prequel that returns Peter Parker to high school. Production begins in December and it will be released in 3D on July 3, 2012.

Lena Meyer-Landrut won the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest

Lena Meyer-Landrut won the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest Germany's Lena Meyer-Landrut won the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday with "Satellite," (video below) an upbeat, catchy pop song, edging out Turkey and Romania.

Meyer-Landrut, who turned 19 during the competition in Norway, won 246 points in the voting by a panel of judges and telephone votes from fans in the 39 participating countries.

It was Germany's second win in the songfest's 55-year history, and the victory means it will host next year's contest.

Meyer-Landrut had been second favorite among leading bookmakers, but first in a Google predictor program. Her victory marks the second year in a row that the Google program has correctly projected the winner of Eurovision, after predicting Norwegian fiddler Alexander Rybak's win in Moscow last year.

Onstage after winning, Meyer-Landrut demanded a kiss on the cheek from Rybak.

"I'm so happy and so thankful and so grateful, and I never thought we could do this," she said, covering her face with a German flag and, looking bewildered, asked: "Do I have to sing now?"

Alone on stage, with her backup singers in shadow, and dressed in a black cocktail dress, black stockings and dark pumps, Meyer-Landrut sang "Satellite" again to cheers and applause.

Germany beat the Turkish entry by 76 points. Romania came in third.

Oil-rich Norway spent 200 million kroner ($31 million) to host the elaborate songfest, which led off with a performance by Rybak, who won the contest in Moscow in 2009.

The contest is known for over-the-top exuberance in costumes, lighting and set design. One notable semifinal outfit – tight silver sparkly shorts – was worn by the male singers in Lithuania's InCulto group, and contestants from Romania had plumes of fire in the background.

Earlier this week, 34 contestants were whittled down to 20 in two semifinals. They were competing in the final with five pre-qualified countries – last year's winner, Norway, and the contest's four perennials: Britain, Germany, France and Spain.

Politically motivated voting, as well as bloc voting, has been fairly common in Eurovision, and this year was no exception, with former Soviet bloc countries supporting each other, a trend that has helped the region win five of the last 10 contests.
