Great news for dead American. Cheques were sent to dead people as a part of last year's massive economic recovery package by the US government. This blunder usually happened to developing countries because of poor administration and outdated records. It doesn't happen to poor countries because their government don't even have money for their living.
Despite US being so advanced in technology and are superior in administrative practice, more than 89,000 stimulus payments of $250 each went to people who were either dead or in prison, a government investigator says in a new report. That's over $22 million.
Dead people were ineligible to get the payments. But get this, there is no provision in the US law to recover payments incorrectly sent to dead people. Are they saying that the US government cannot get back the $22 million?
The Social Security Administration claimed that despite tight deadlines, workers accurately processed more than 99.8 percent of the 52 million stimulus payments. 0.2 percent error made by government workers from the US is actually very bad considering their standard.
